There are many smart phone vendors out there and perhaps the most famous is the Apple iPhone with the ability to run apps downloaded from it’s app store.  This has been a worldwide success for Apple and many more devices are emerging to follow in it’s footsteps.

Current sales figures suggest that about 14.5% of all mobile sales are smart phone devices.  If this trend continues as we expect,  smart phones will be more popular than standard mobile phones by mid 2012.  This increase in smart phone use among subscribers will also help the networks to create and deliver even better content and push the next drive in technology.

The service (Similar to Nokia’s Ovi service) will be available on a number of handsets as the mobile phone giant looks to strengthen its relationships with key manufacturers such as Nokia and Samung.

It might be a case of too little too late this time as the mobile app-store space is already hiotly contested with Apple, Android and even Microsoft dominating the marketplace for mobile phone applications.

The European and UK release date is not set yet however there should be some capable handsets on the shelves just in time for Christmas.

Still, if Vodafone do pull this off they will have an all-inclusive carrier and service which could prove unique in the market and put them back in first place in the UK mobile phone market.

This time the mobile phone giant has created a new micro site which looks to be pretty much a promotional notice for their free music download day which happens on Friday 25th September.

Vodafone customers will be able to download 10 tracks from a catalogue of 1.6 million different songs.  Song choices are not limited to current charting hits as there is a very eclectic mix of tracks on offer.

http://www.realtimetop40.com is apparently the first ever fully interactive top 40 chart.  The premise is that ppl can vote on Twitter using the track name and a has tag of #RealTimeTop40.  You can also vote by using the buttons on the site which means you’ll need to log in to Twitter t actually tweet your vote. (I wonder if they count RTs…)

Anyway, this is a great and very fun app which just shows what fun things you can do with the Twitter platform so well done to Vodafone for building it

Nokia have just released an extremely good mobile phone device, the Nokia N900.

Both Orange and T-Mobile have been struggling in recent years to offer cut price and free handset deals in the same way that market leaders O2 and Vodafone can. They have also found that it is much harder here in the UK to generate enough money to re-invest into technological innovation.

T-Mobile looks like a keen innovator as they have already got phones using the Android technology. Perhaps we could see a release from similar release from Orange within a year.

This new merged company will take first place with 37% of the market share. If we assume the other big 2 (O2 and Vodafone) have around 30% share, it suddenly creates a very level playing field – great news for mobile phone consumers across the UK.

Hopefully, this business venture could lead to cheaper phone tariff prices, something that the European Parliament has been looking at for a while.

Our advice is still to compare mobile phones when you are looking for your new contract, its the easiest way to get the best deal for you.
